If Ford Kenya wishes to field their candidate we have no problem with them, we are also going to field ours and we will make sure that we give him enough support,” Mr Caleb Simiyu noted, adding that UDA is not a lesser party in the Kenya Kwanza coalition

Political woes in President William Ruto’s political formation, the Kenya Kwanza continues to deepen as United Democratic Alliance (UDA) supporters from the nine constituencies in Bungoma County vowed to back former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga to replace National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Caleb Simiyu, UDA youth leader in Kanduyi Constituency dismissed the Ford Kenya party officials for claiming that the Bungoma Senator position is reserved for a candidate from the party. Mr Simiyu was speaking at Members Club on Thursday during the UDA Mashinani meeting attended by members from the nine constituencies in Bungoma County.
Simiyu he said that Mr Mwambu together with Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Sirisia MP John Waluke, Mt. Elgon lawmaker Fred Kapondi and Webuye West MP Dan Wanyonyi invested much resources and time in the growth of UDA in the region
Mr Simiyu argues if it were not for the UDA members of parliament then Moses Wetang’ula couldn’t have become the Speaker. “UDA has the majority in the House and they are the ones that pushed the plan for Mr Wetang’ula to become the speaker of the national assembly, Ford Kenya should stop creating cracks in Kenya Kwanza,” he said. For the Kenya Kwanza government to deliver on its promises, Mr Simiyu called on affiliate parties to agree on some issues. However, Simiyu says that as UDA supporters we aren’t going to allow Ford Kenya party officials to impose a person on Bungoma adding that they will not shelve their bid in supporting former lawmaker Mwambu Mabonga.
“If Ford Kenya wishes to field their candidate we have no problem with them, we are also going to field ours and we will make sure that we give him enough support,” Mr Simiyu noted, adding that UDA is not a lesser party in the Kenya Kwanza coalition. He added, “We have put all strategies in place to ensure that Mr Mwambu clinches this seat that was left vacant after Wetang’ula’s resignation,”
The youth leader now argues that Ford Kenya is still a strange party in the coalition adding that Ford Kenya joined Kenya Kwanza when everything had already been done. “Before the Ford Kenya party joined the Kenya Kwanza coalition UDA had already reached more than 350,000 memberships, nothing they can tell us,” he said.
In addition, he said that Mr Mwambu together with Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Sirisia MP John Waluke, Mt. Elgon lawmaker Fred Kapondi and Webuye West MP Dan Wanyonyi invested much resources and time in the growth of UDA in the region. Mr Simiyu praised former legislator Mwambu Mabonga for standing firmly with President William Ruto in asking the state house to end threats, intimidation and blackmail before the country went into the elections. “Our candidate MP Mwambu stood firmly in attacking former President Uhuru Kenyatta when he tried to use state agencies to intimidate other Kenyans,” Simiyu added.
