A police commander based in Ruiru Samir Yunus was today presented at a Milimani court and charged before Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo with an offence of having allegedly raped a junior police officer at Dandora police station on June 15, 2019. The charge sheet stated that Yunus who at that time was the Dandora police OCPD committed the offence using his position as a senior police officer. He denied the lone charge and was released on a bond of Ksh. 500 000 or pay a cash bail of Ksh. 200 000.
The case will be mentioned on December 20. Meanwhile, a police officer who was caught on video allegedly stealing money from female invigilators at a secondary school in Bomet County is on the run and is being sought by police. The incident happened at Kimulot High School within Konoin constituency on Monday, December 5 as the KCSE examination was underway at the school. The police officer was captured on CCTV ransacking the handbags of female invigilators.
Bomet County police boss Mathews Mangira told The Weekly Vision that the officer allegedly entered a room where the invigilators were keeping their belongings, including phones and other valuables, and ransacked the bags. The three victims recorded statements after they discovered their valuables missing. The victims claim to have lost in total Ksh. 1 300.
