Mr Mbadi has also not spared Governor Wanga over what he termed as lacking leadership skills to steer Homa bay to serious and meaningful development. Mbadi who sources say has vowed to put Wanga on her toes until the next elections. He has been addressing funerals in Nyanza with only two agendas, Raila and Wanga. Mbadi has not forgiven Raila for allegedly shortchanging him for the position of minority leader which he was promised as a condition for supporting Wanga
The political supremacy battle between ODM National chairman John Mbadi and Minority leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi has erupted again with Mr Wandayi accusing Mbadi of attempting to rock the boat from within. Mr Mbadi who once threatened to leave ODM after the August elections is now said to be on a mission to destroy some individuals in the party whom he accuses of being political sycophants to party leader Raila Odinga.
The war between Mbadi and Wandayi began in the run-up to the last elections when Raila reached out for Wandayi to step down in favour of James Orengo for the Siaya gubernatorial seat with a promise of being named the majority or minority leader in the National Assembly.
Mbadi on the other hand was promised the same position after being forced to step down in the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat in favour of Gladys Wanga. A bitter Mbadi last week told those who cared to listen that Raila will never stop him again from contesting for any political seat including the presidency.
Wandayi in a quick rejoinder told Mbandi to desist from attacking the Party leader saying any political rebellion in the former Prime Minister’s backyard will be crushed. Wandayi in a scathing attack told Mbadi to quit and form a personal political party. “We want to assure you that any such rebellion will be crushed convincingly. If you feel you have the capacity to challenge ODM, please go ahead and form your party,” Wandayi said.
Mbadi has also not spared Wanga over what he termed as lacking leadership skills to steer Homa bay to serious and meaningful development. Mbadi who sources say has vowed to put Wanga on her toes until the next elections. He has been addressing funerals in Nyanza with only two agendas, Raila and Wanga. Mbadi has not forgiven Raila for allegedly shortchanging him for the position of minority leader which he was promised as a condition for supporting Wanga.
As things stand now, rebellion against Raila in his backyard of Luo Nyanza and more so in the larger South Nyanza counties of Migori and Homa bay is growing by the day. Analysts say should there be any by-election in the two counties, it will be an uphill task for ODM to retain any seat in the two counties.
