A section of the board members of Jumuisha Sacco Society Ltd formerly known as Bondo Teachers Sacco has been accused of favouring specific suppliers in which they hold an interest in the award of tenders. According to business people who spoke to The Weekly Vision on strict conditions of anonymity for fear of victimization, the Sacco’s boards have their cronies and favourite companies who have been doing huge businesses with the Sacco.
Business people who spoke to us in confidence named the Sacco officials known to manipulate the procurement process, deciding who gets which tender and at how much at a fee. The source named four individuals as Everlyne, Dominic, Tom and Stephen.
According to one businessman who had an interest in the tender for repairs and maintenance of computers and printers, he claimed that he was told by one of the officials that the advertisement was just a formality as the tender had already been awarded.
Sources say the Sacco has been mismanaged, more so after it allowed the non-teaching fraternity to join as members. Sources say that the officials treat members differently with teachers having an upper hand while non-teachers are mistreated. The source claimed that when loan application forms are processed, priority is given to teachers as opposed to other members drawn from the business community.
