The former journalist now Nyali constituency MP Mohammed Ali alias Jicho Pevu is under pressure from his constituents to explain the circumstances under which his CDF Committee Members got involved in fraudulent tender deals.
Investigations reveal that the Nyali NG-CDF Committee paid one contractor a whopping Ksh. 2,981,000 for fixing wooden shelves at a library, purchase of library chairs, tables, and the supply and delivering office furniture and fittings at Kongowea Secondary School, experts now say the cost for all the items should not have exceeded one million shillings. It has also been discovered that there were several items worth Ksh. 624,580 which were paid for but never delivered.
The MP and his committee members are now under pressure to account for the money. The committee also transferred Ksh. 2m to Mombasa School for the Physically Disabled for the replacement of a roof composed of asbestos, the project was later cancelled but the funds were not refunded to the main bank account.
The committee also approved and transferred a payment of Ksh.800,000 for the supply and delivery of office furniture and equipment to Kadzandani Kwa Bulo Police Post. Investigations reveal that a printer, Kyocera 1800 valued at Ksh. 74,500 was never delivered yet was paid for.
