A serious power struggle has hit the Kenya Rural Roads Authority pitying the Director General Eng. Phelemon Kandie and the head of corporate services Dan Manyasi. According to sources well versed with the boardroom wars at the corporation, the bone of contention is the transfer of a senior officer at the Ministry of Roads Margaret Wanja Muthui who was transferred by Mr. Kandie.
In a fresh turn of events, the anti-Kandie group on the board lobbied through Deputy President Rigathi Gachagwa to have the transfer revoked. Sources say, the board revoked the transfer, which shows just how Mr. Kandie has been sidelined. Even the transfer letter was signed by the head of corporate services Dan Manyasi instead of the Director General.
According to the transfer letter dated March 20th, 2023, Wanja is supposed to take the office of Deputy Detector Supply Chain Management with immediate effect. The letter reads in part “By copy of this letter, the Acting Deputy Director Supply Chain Management Ms. Catherine Kingangi is required to hand over to you and to compile a handing over report, a copy of which should be handed over to the office of the Director General.”
