Deputy President’s spouse Dorcas Rigathi has asked Kenyans to stop gossiping about her husband DP Rigathi Gachagua, saying that he is a good leader chosen by God. She was speaking at Kabula Pastoral Centre on Tuesday when he met Bungoma leaders, Mrs. Rigathi defended the deputy president saying that he is a leader who is dedicated to serving Kenyans.
“When you go around the country you will hear some people talk ill of the deputy president but sincerely speaking he is a good leader,” she said. The second lady called on the opposition to give time to President Ruto’s administration work for Kenyans noting that the Ruto- Rigathi government will deliver on its mandate as promised during campaigns.
“Ruto and Rigathi are men of God, even during campaigns we were praying hard that is why we won the elections,” she said. She, however, said that her office is targeting to support the boy child rather than neglecting them. “I’m not in that office as an ornament, I’m there to ensure that I support young people where I can,” she said. To hit President Ruto’s target of planting 15 billion trees, Mrs Rigathi said that youths should be given jobs to plant trees. She dismissed LBGTQ as a criminal, asking Africans to stick to their culture. “Let us not emulate what foreigners do, our African culture is the best,” she said.
In addition, she said that supporting the boy child will greatly lower teenage pregnancy, FGM and drug abuse in the community. Her sentiments were echoed by Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka who asked Azimio leaders to give time for President Ruto to deliver on his promises. Also present was Bungoma deputy governor Jenipher Mbatiany, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Bungoma first lady Dr Margret Makelo, church leaders, Bungoma county senior staff and MCAs.
