Senegalese football star Sadio Mane was reportedly expected to undergo his medical at Al Nassr yesterday after the Saudi Pro League side agreed to a £ 34 million deal to sign him from Bayern Munich. Mane will pocket a staggering £34m a year (£650,000 a week) playing for the club alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 31-year-old stands to earn around £136m throughout a four-year deal which runs until June 2027. But the paperwork will only be completed providing he passes his medical, which Sky Sports report will take place on Monday in Dubai.
After playing an integral part in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side in a six-year stint in Merseyside, Mane secured a £35m move to the Allianz Arena in June 2022. The deal was made up of a £27.5m base fee plus £7.5m worth of performance-based add-ons which won’t be triggered now Mane is set to depart Bayern so early in his tenure.
Mane had been brought into the fold to become a regular fixture of the first-team squad. However, he quickly fell out of favour with Thomas Tuchel after punching team-mate Leroy Sane following a Champions League defeat at the hands of Manchester City back in April.
The Senegal international made 38 appearances for the Bavarian giants in all competitions, scoring 12 goals, during a disappointing maiden campaign. Mane showed flashes of his best at Bayern but never managed to string together a consistent run of performance expected of the player, who once ranked among Europe’s elite footballers.
