Miguna has visibly been agitated in the last two weeks attacking the Kenya Kwanza administration via his X handle. In one of the posts, Miguna wrote, “African allegories have hyenas as characters who symbolise gluttony and wanton stupidity. The things that symbolise hard work and teamwork are bees and ants. My friend, Riggy G, needs comprehensive lessons in communication”. On the ongoing Soundu clashes between the Luos and the Kalenjins, Miguna wrote, “Why are there ethnic clashes going on between Luos and Kalenjins and innocent lives being lost at the Kisumu-Kericho border, especially at the Sondu Market? Why are senior government officials quiet about Kenyans killing each other over something no one has explained to us? Why is Kenya sending 1000 policemen to Haiti when they can’t keep the peace between Luos and Kalenjins at Sondu?”
Lawyer Miguna Miguna has reportedly fallen out with President William Ruto’s senior advisers after they blocked him from meeting the president, the advisers were allegedly working on intelligence reports that advised against the president giving Mr Miguna a state job over his status as a Canadian citizen.
Early in the year, he had arrived from Canada after being promised a state job but to his surprise, his name was missing when the announcement was finally made public. Miguna was told to wait as there were more jobs like principal secretaries and chief administrative secretaries; however, when Ruto made the appointments, his name was again missing.
He was later to apply for the position of Director of Public Prosecution, for which he was never shortlisted. It was after this that he started criticising Ruto’s administration. A seemingly bitter Miguna began posting on his X-handle negative posts about the Kenya Kwanza administration.
And as if that were not enough, sources say Mr Miguna’s hopes of securing any state job were dashed last week after the President nominated several people to the positions of ambassadors and high commissioners, where his name was again missing. Unconfirmed reports revealed that he had sent emissaries to the President for consideration before the appointments were made, and hopes were high that he would land a diplomatic posting.
It is now official that the president has locked doors on Miguna, and what is left for him now is to either go back to Canada, where he has practised law for years, or start a law firm in Kenya and carry on with legal practice. There is no hope of him landing a state job.
Analysts now say that initially, Ruto thought Miguna would help him checkmate ODM Raila Odinga in Luo Nyanza, but after he failed in that mission, the president was advised to keep off and look for more reliable politicians to push his agenda in the Nyanza region.
The gap Miguna left has now been filled by the rebel-branded MPs who have technically decamped from ODM to work with Ruto and Kenya Kwanza. According to Ruto, working with elected leaders and former elected leaders could easily see him make inroads in Raila’s political backyard.
To show how Ruto has very little or no time at all for Miguna, he has never accompanied him on any of his tours to Luo Nyanza. Last week, Ruto was in Muguna’s home area in Kisumu, but his name did not appear anywhere in the list of personalities accompanying the president.

Last week, Miguna wrote, “In January, President William Ruto apologised to me for the barbaric torture, forced exile, and horrendous treatment the government that he served as DP subjected me to. He promised to have all the cases relating to those abuses resolved. 12 months later, I’m still waiting”.
