Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat early this week officiated at the launch of the second edition of the General Service Unit (GSU) Magazine and a website. The event was held at the GSU headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi. In his address to the Officers, Lagat underscored the necessity of the website as a platform for sharing information about GSU with a broader audience.
“In this era of the 21st century where matters are changing very fast and in the digital era, police and security agencies need to up their game by having a digital platform for communication like a website. I congratulate you for this, “said Lagat.
He further noted that the magazine was not only a collection of articles and creative pieces on matters of GSU officers but also a powerful medium where ideas are shared and voices heard from the officers.
“I also call for continuous improvement in the Kenya Police Service through research and innovation by our officers,” added the DIG. Present during the event were GSU, commandant Ranson Lolmodooni, Kenya Police Director of Logistics Peter Ndung’u, NPS Director of Corporate Communication and spokesperson Dr. Resila Onyango and GSU General Staffing Officer George Nderitu.
Former Deputy Commandant GSU Omar Bashane who until his retirement from NPS last month was the chairperson of the GSU Editorial team, was also present. Meanwhile, the DIG has begun a tour of police stations across the country to assess the working conditions of police officers in those stations and how they relate with members of the public while delivering services. He began his tours with visits to police stations in Nairobi city before he could visit other counties.
