Makadara MP George Aladwa has called on youths to give President William Ruto time to implement changes after constituting his cabinet. Aladwa said in a press statement that the ongoing protests by the Gen Z`s in different parts of the country had yielded some results, like the disbandment of the cabinet, and now it was time they should give the President time to deliver.
“A month ago, the Gen Z`s held protests across the country to vent their displeasure with the Kenya Kwanza administration. This led to the disbandment of the entire cabinet, and this shows he has demonstrated goodwill to listen and deliver, added Aladwa.
He went on to say that the head of state`s appointment of 20 cabinet secretaries from across all regions of the country and from different professions will go a long way in assisting the president in implementing the austerity measures the government wants. Aladwa, who is also the ODM party’s Nairobi branch chairman, asked youths to refrain from further protests to force President Ruto out of office, adding that the country can`t solve the challenges facing it through daily street protests.
“Many people have lost livelihoods and lives, which, as a country, we should not allow to continue, maintained Aladwa. At the same time, Aladwa has condemned the recent attack on Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja during his tour of the burned Toi market in Kibera, Nairobi.
“Governor Sakaja, along with other government officials, had gone to support traders whose stalls had been ravaged by fire. His presence was a gesture of solidarity with the affected business community, showing true leadership and empathy, “Aladwa`s statement read in part.
He continued to say that it was regrettable that the visit by Sakaja was met with violence as a group of rowdy youths pelted him and his entourage with stones. Aladwa said that the act, which he described as reckless, not only endangered the lives of many people at the scene but also damaged property and threatened peace.
He called for the strengthening of the security of elected leaders from any form of hooliganism and violence. Aladwa, too, urged the security agencies in the city to arrest and begin the process of prosecuting the culprits involved in stoning Sakaja.
