Presidential aspirant and Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has intensified his campaigns ahead of the 2027 general election. Wajackoyah has already publicly declared that he will be contesting for the top seat again in the next elections, so far, he has met all the governors from the Mulembe nation and has now embarked on visiting other areas of the country.
On Tuesday he visited Amagoro ACK diocese church in Amagoro, Busia County, where he held talks with Bishop John Okude who later hosted the Roots party boss for a luncheon. After his talks with the bishop, Wajackoyah met a delegation of teachers from Kano, Kisumu County at Mundika, Busia County, where he promised them that if elected president, he would improve education standards in the country and also take care of their welfare.
Wajackoyah has also indicated that he plans to meet more Kenyans from different sectors, among them media owners and practitioners, to have them understand him better. “I am a friend of the media too, and I would like to engage them so that we can know each other well. I know some of them are poorly renumerated; I would be happy if the media owners and managers could intervene and have them paid well, said Wajackoyah.
He said that he was better placed to be elected for the presidency in 2027 because he understands the plight of many Kenyans and has more experience having worked as a junior police officer and OCS, went to exile, stayed abroad for some years, and came back to the country to serve. He said he’s well educated with several degrees and termed himself a down-to-earth man. He at the same time said that he respects Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s acceptance of his senior officials in the ODM party to join President William Ruto`s cabinet, saying that the four are all Kenyans and have a right to serve the nation.
The four who have joined the government as cabinet secretaries are Ali Hassan Joho (formerly deputy party leader), who is now the CS for maritime affairs, and Wycliffe Oparanya (formerly deputy party leader), who is now the cabinet secretary for cooperatives. John Mbandi was ODM party chairman, while former minority leader in parliament Opiyo Wandayi was handed the ministry of energy.
