A man has been convicted for bribing a police officer by Milimani Principal Magistrate Isabella Barasa. She sentenced Mwangi Warutere to two years after the prosecution proved the bribery case beyond any reasonable doubt.

The businessman was alternatively fined Ksh 300,000. The prosecution told the court that Mr Warutere gave Ksh 100,000 to a police corporal attached to the central police station within Nairobi County to gain favours from the investigating officer in a criminal case at the Milimani law court. In the case in question, Warutere, his father, and his wife were charged with conspiracy to defraud millions of shillings.  He offered a bribe to the public officer on January 16, 2020.
