Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli attended the 7th general meeting of retired police officers, the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPOK), on Wednesday held at the National Police Service Embakasi, also known as Administration Police Training College (APTC).
Mr. Masengeli assured the retired officers that his office and NPS were open for consultative matters. “I urge serving officers to begin preparing for retirement on their first day of recruitment, and I reassure you that NPS doors remain open to support NARPOK,” he said.
The acting IGP is the organisation’s patron in his capacity as police boss. Japheth Mwania, the organisation chairman, appreciated NPS’s top leadership for hosting the NARPOK 7th General Meeting. The chief guest during the event was former Commissioner of Police Shadrack Kiruki, who retired nearly 30 years ago. In his remarks, Mr. Kiruki stated that the Board of Trustees was working to streamline the welfare of retired police officers.
Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat and CID Mohammed Amin reassured the retired police officers through NARPOK that they will assist them whenever called upon. Among those present during the event were former Commandant GSU and Presidential escort (Prescot) Samson Cherambos, former Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police II Lawrence Mwadime, and former Directors NPS Headquarters James Mwaniki and Otieno Osur.
Former head of flying squad Musa Yego, former police spokesperson Jeremiah Matagaro, former NPSC Commissioner Mary Owuor, and former INTERPOL Officer Mary Kaol. Also present were former senior police officers Pauline Adhiambo, Stanley Mutungi, Dola Indidis, William Meto, former Regional Police Commander Western, Peris Muthoni, Chairman Wajir Chapter Osman Fankey, and Head of International Police Association Kenya Chapter Shuaib Adam.
Commandant NPC Embakasi “A” Campus, Davis Lomwatu, and NPS Spokesperson Dr. Resila Onyango were also present. The NARPOK Board of Trustees includes all retired Inspectors General of Police, retired Commissioners of Police, retired directors of DCI, retired commandants of GSU, and retired directors general of NIS.
