The High Court has ordered Certified Home Ltd. and its directors, Lilian and Dennis Oketch, to respond within 14 days to a lawsuit from three US-based clients seeking a refund of Ksh 15.5 million. Judge Lucy Mbugwa declared that the plaintiffs will receive judgment if the defendants do not respond.

The case alleges that Certified Homes breached a contract to build an ultra-gated residential estate, KWITU (Kenyan Women in the USA) Gardens Phase 2, intended for family investors in the US. Plaintiffs Elizabeth Wangari Green, Caroline Ongito, and Eddah Wanjiku Kimani claim the company misrepresented land ownership and failed to address their concerns.

Documents reveal that the company used substandard materials without a known source and did not provide the promised architectural plans or approvals. The directors allegedly made misleading claims about the potential resale value of the housing units.
