Air France is set to transform its onboard WiFi service next year by gradually introducing an ultra-high-speed connectivity option designed to deliver a ‘ground-like’ experience. This new service will be completely free in all travel classes and accessible to customers through their Flying Blue account. Over time, it will replace the current WiFi offerings on all the airline’s aircraft.
The airline has partnered with Starlink to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity. Passengers will be able to stay connected with friends and family, access live news, play online games, and stream TV shows, films, and series during their flight. The service will support connections from smartphones, tablets, and laptops, allowing customers to connect multiple devices at once, according to a report by Future Travel Experience.
To access the service, customers can log into their Flying Blue account, the loyalty program of the Air France-KLM Group. Those without an account can easily create one onboard for free in just a few clicks.
Starting in the summer 2025 season, Air France will begin equipping all its aircraft, including its regional fleet, with this advanced technology. During the transition, the airline will continue to provide connectivity on aircraft not yet equipped with the new service, including a free ‘Message Pass’ for Flying Blue members and a paid option for additional needs.
Ben Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM, will present exclusively at FTE Global—the “CES of Aviation”—taking place in Los Angeles from October 28-30, 2024. He will share insights into the airline’s plans and strategies for ongoing growth.
