Malava Constituency Schools to Benefit from Full NG-CDF Allocation for 2025/26: Buses and Storey Buildings to Boost Education

Starting in the 2025/26 financial year, schools in Malava constituency will receive full allocations from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF). The local MP, who also serves as the patron of the constituency fund, has announced ambitious plans to improve education and enrolment through the introduction of school buses and the construction of storey buildings.

During the recent public participation event, led by Constituency Fund Manager Humphrey Sechero and Malava NGCDF Chairperson Everlyne Wawire, it was confirmed that the plan would see each ward benefit from two schools with storey buildings and two school buses. The committee emphasized the importance of equitably distributing resources to enhance learning facilities across the constituency.

According to Sechero, while the fund is keen to equip sub-county schools with essential resources raised in their proposals, government guidelines restrict funding to specific categories: Education, Security, and Climate change mitigation. Given the lack of land in many schools for expansion, the introduction of storey buildings was seen as the best solution to address overcrowding.

The idea of providing each ward with two school buses is seen as essential for enhancing accessibility for students and benefiting the wider community. The committee believes that schools with modern infrastructure, such as storey buildings and buses, typically experience higher enrolment rates. To prevent students from seeking schools in upgraded areas, Malava’s leaders are determined to improve local schools and retain students within the sub-county.

This initiative marks a new chapter in the constituency’s effort to improve educational outcomes and provide students with better opportunities for the future
