Five former directors of Wendano Matuu Company Limited are facing legal trouble after being charged last week with 23 counts of forgery. The accused, Stephen Ndambuki Muli, Onesmus Muisyo Kimatu, Benedict Mackenzie Mutuku, Harrison Nzioki Muya, and Christopher Muindi Nziba, allegedly forged minutes of a company Special General Meeting dated February 14, 2020, falsely presenting them as authentic records issued by Wendano Matuu Company Limited.
They also face charges for allegedly forging a CR 12 document, purportedly issued by the Registrar of Companies, as well as 20 additional counts of forging signatures.
The accused appeared before Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe to deny all charges. However, the first accused, Muli, failed to appear in court, prompting the issuance of a summons for his appearance on December 17.
During the hearing, the defence informed the court of a pending matter related to the case at the High Court in Machakos, requesting a deferral of the plea-taking. The prosecution opposed the application, arguing that there was no court order barring the process. The accused were released on a cash bail of Ksh 100,000 each as the case continues.
