Peraso’s DUNE Platform Signs Major Order in Kenya for 60 GHz mmWave Wireless Upgrade

Peraso Inc., a US-based leader in mmWave wireless technology, has announced a purchase order for its DUNE platform from a wireless internet service provider (WISP) in Kenya. This order represents a significant step toward the deployment of 60 GHz technology in Africa.

Peraso’s DUNE platform utilizes mmWave technology to deliver a robust and efficient solution for high-density environments. It features phased array antenna modules that focus energy into narrow, steerable streams, supporting up to 32 users per access point.

The WISP plans to upgrade from its existing 5GHz technology to the DUNE platform’s 60GHz mmWave, which is expected to enhance performance, enable higher-density operations, and reduce costs per customer. The project will be executed in two phases: point-to-point (PTP) for backhaul and point-to-multipoint (PTMP) for last-mile access. This upgrade aims to help the WISP expand its services in major urban areas of Kenya, including Nairobi and Mombasa.

“We are excited to be involved in this project,” said Ron Glibbery, CEO of Peraso. “We believe our DUNE platform will revolutionize wireless connectivity in densely populated urban areas in Kenya, providing a more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for internet providers and users alike.”

As the WISP transitions to Peraso’s advanced DUNE system, it is anticipated that internet service quality will significantly improve for many users within its network. With approximately 22.7 million internet users in Kenya, the potential impact of this project is considerable.

The DUNE platform represents a major innovation for Peraso, further solidifying the company’s position in the wireless communications sector. As global demand for reliable, high-speed internet continues to rise, Peraso remains dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that enhance connectivity and user experiences.
