Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo Accuses ODM Leaders Of Sowing Division

Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo has launched a scathing attack on key ODM leaders, accusing them of destabilising the party. He singled out ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, Kisii Governor Simba Arati, and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, claiming they were sowing division despite being part of a caretaker leadership team.

Odhiambo warned Sifuna against lecturing party members, threatening to expose alleged financial dealings aimed at weakening ODM. “Sifuna knows very well that if he does not sober up, I will table evidence showing what he took, how much remains, what he is demanding, and where the transactions took place,” he claimed.

He accused Sifuna of prioritising political theatrics over ODM’s strategic future, arguing that his leadership was undermining the party’s stability. Odhiambo warned that ODM’s internal power struggles could weaken its influence ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“At a time when ODM should be consolidating its influence and preparing for 2027, these leaders have opted for internal sabotage, factionalism, and reckless brinkmanship, all in pursuit of selfish political gains,” he said.

He also took issue with Kisii Governor Simba Arati, accusing him of running ODM as a personal empire and sidelining other party leaders to advance his own 2027 political ambitions. “Arati’s confrontational style—where he publicly disrespects party leadership and seeks to impose his will through sheer force—is a recipe for ODM’s collapse,” Odhiambo stated.

ODM Leadership Moves to Contain Divisions

His remarks come as ODM’s Central Management Committee convenes a meeting to address internal divisions over the party’s stance on the Kenya Kwanza government and the 2027 elections.

Senator Godfrey Osotsi has stressed that ODM is working towards a unified position regarding Kenya Kwanza, while Busia Governor Paul Otuoma has urged members to stop airing internal disputes in public, warning that such behaviour could damage party unity.

The internal wrangles have seen Siaya Governor James Orengo, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, and Edwin Sifuna clash publicly over ODM’s future direction.
