Government to Digitise Public Procurement by July 2025

The government has announced a shift to e-procurement for all public institutions by July 2025 to curb corruption and improve transparency in public spending. Felix Koskei, Head of Public Service, said all government institutions must now switch to e-procurement.

Koskei explained that the e-procurement system will track all transactions clearly, allowing real-time monitoring of key steps like applications, award letters, and payments.

“We want to stop corruption. That’s why we’re directing all government institutions to switch to e-procurement, ensuring transparent and accountable use of public funds,” he said.

Koskei stressed the need to track every shilling of public money through the procurement and payment processes. The new system will help government agencies closely check financial records, spot errors, and quickly fix issues.

He criticised past procurement practices, noting that manual systems were often abused by officials to steal public funds for personal gain. Koskei stressed the government’s commitment to protect public resources and ensure taxpayers’ money is spent as intended.

Urging public servants and agencies to adopt the changes, he stated that the digital transition is not just a policy but a duty to restore integrity and public trust in service delivery.
