Mudavadi Rallies Malava: Back UDA for Progress and Unity

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged residents of Malava Constituency to rally behind a strong candidate from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in the forthcoming parliamentary by-election.
Addressing a delegation of over 3,000 teachers drawn from across Malava, Mr Mudavadi reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to fully support a UDA candidate. He encouraged locals to field a capable individual who can capture the seat left vacant following the untimely death of former MP Malulu Injendi earlier this year.
Although the Prime Cabinet Secretary stopped short of naming any specific aspirant, he pledged unwavering support for the UDA flagbearer once endorsed. Among the hopefuls vying for the party’s ticket is lawyer Leonard Shimaka, who is already actively campaigning.
Mr Mudavadi urged residents to take their time in selecting a leader who will represent them with integrity, fairness and a true dedication to service. He underscored the need for the process to be free, fair and transparent.
“It is time for Malava to show us the way, to demonstrate to government what good leadership looks like and to reflect the bigger picture,” he said.
He further called on residents to unite under the UDA banner, describing it as a moment of political reflection and decision-making.
“The time has come for you to ask yourselves where you belong politically. UDA, under President William Ruto, is committed to transformative leadership, one that will enhance roads, education, agriculture and create meaningful opportunities for the people,” he stated.
Mr Mudavadi warned that delays in making the right political decisions come at a cost, saying, “Being on the wrong path makes development more expensive and progress difficult.”
The by-election in Malava is seen as a critical test of UDA’s popularity in Kakamega County, with Mudavadi playing a key role in mobilising support in the region.
