The President of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr Erick Rutto, has disclosed that the country will host an International Chamber of Commerce summit in May next year. He said that the summit, dubbed the World Chambers Federation (WCF) Africa summit, will bring together about 4,500 delegates.
He said that the official announcement after Kenya won the bid was made on July 26, 2024, by the WCF chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu. ”The selection of Nairobi followed a highly competitive bidding process, highlighting Kenya’s emerging role as a key player in the global business arena, Dr. Rutto said at a press conference in Nairobi.
He emphasized that this achievement reflects the robust efforts made by the KNCCI team and the unwavering support from its partners. Rutto went on to say that the summit is not merely a conference, but it also represents a pivotal opportunity to shape the future of commerce and industry on our continent.
He said that among participants of the event that’s likely to take four to six months are business leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators from more than 70 countries. The summit, he said, will foster dialogue, collaboration, and economic growth, which signals Kenya’s outlook as a regional hub and the strength of its private sector. He added that the summit is set to underscore Kenya’s critical role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and reaffirm its position as a prime investment destination.
Dr Rutto highlighted the potential economic benefits, including attracting investors, creating trade opportunities, and boosting the tourism and hospitality sectors, which it will market during the conference.
