Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Langat continued with his visit to police stations around the country. On Wednesday, he made an impromptu visit to Nakuru Central Police Station, where he held a meeting with police officers led by the region’s police boss, Jasper Ombati.
According to senior officers who accompanied him, Lagat got a first-hand account of the security situation in the county and assessed the welfare of the officers. His visits have been described as a deliberate effort to understand the current working conditions and challenges faced by the officers in police stations and also get feedback by engaging directly with officers as well as members of the public seeking police services.
Previously he visited Mwiki Police Station and Force Central Stores in Industrial, Nairobi. During his address to the officers at the station, Lagat appreciated their unwavering dedication to duty and urged them to always continue upholding integrity, a sense of responsibility, and accountability in service to the public.
He also toured various sections at the station, including the Report Office, Child Protection and Gender Unit, and Cells. He had a chat with persons apprehended for various offences during their afternoon meal.
Those who accompanied the DIG included Kenya Police Service Director of Logistics Peter Ndung’u, Director of Corporate Communication who is also the National Police Service Spokesperson, Dr. Resila Onyango, and Kenya Police Service Deputy Director of Operations Bernard Mbatha.
