Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is plotting a major political comeback, revealing plans to form a new alliance ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Election. Speaking to a charged audience in Murang’a on Sunday, Gachagua announced ongoing consultations with religious leaders and political allies, promising a formal declaration in January.
“I am in talks with religious leaders and politicians. Come January, I will tell you what we have agreed on. Never again shall we find ourselves in the hole we are in,” he declared, hinting at a bold new political strategy.

The former DP’s remarks come in the wake of his impeachment last month, a historic move that made him Kenya’s first Deputy President to be removed from office. The Senate upheld the National Assembly’s October 17 resolution to oust Gachagua, following months of political tension and allegations of misconduct.
Since his dramatic exit, Gachagua has positioned himself as a vocal critic of the government. He has accused state authorities of harassment, alleging surveillance and intimidation by unidentified agents.
In a series of tweets, Gachagua detailed a chilling encounter involving an unmarked saloon car parked outside his Nairobi residence and allegedly following him across multiple locations.
“These tactics remind me of Kenya’s dark days under authoritarian regimes. I fear for my safety,” he wrote.
As Gachagua builds momentum for his next political chapter, his fiery rhetoric and promises of a fresh start resonate with supporters eager for change. With January’s announcement looming, all eyes are now on the former DP to unveil his new alliance and strategy for 2027.
For now, Rigathi Gachagua remains a polarizing figure—part symbol of defiance, part architect of Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
