Former Principal Secretary Arrested For Fraudulent Land Acquisition Worth Ksh 350 Million

In the case, Mwangi, along with his accomplices Sammy Louis Karanja and Moses Ojuka, a former employee of the Ministry of Lands, is accused of conspiracy to defraud, uttering false documents, and forging the title deed for the land

A former Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Security, Dave Munya Mwangi, has been arrested and charged with the fraudulent acquisition of a parcel of land valued at Ksh 350 million along Mombasa Road.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed that Mwangi’s arrest followed a thorough investigation by the DCI’s land fraud unit, prompted by a formal complaint. According to the DCI, Mwangi is accused of conspiring to acquire the land by forging a title deed with the help of a corrupt official from the Ministry of Lands.

“Former PS Dave Munya Mwangi has been charged for the fraudulent acquisition of land along Mombasa Road, after forging a title deed with the assistance of a rogue Ministry of Lands official,” the DCI statement read.

The investigation revealed that Mwangi, along with two other suspects still at large, forged documents for a 1.591-hectare parcel of land, transferring it into the names of companies owned by Mwangi. They then used these forged documents to lease the land to a Chinese company for Ksh 12 million.

In the case, Mwangi, along with his accomplices Sammy Louis Karanja and Moses Ojuka, a former employee of the Ministry of Lands, is accused of conspiracy to defraud, uttering false documents, and forging the title deed for the land.

Mwangi, who is also the director of Olbolsat Farm Limited, was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts, where he faced three charges: conspiracy to defraud, forgery of a title deed, and uttering a false document. Charges have also been filed against his two accomplices, who remain at large.

Mwangi pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted a bond of Ksh 20 million or an alternative cash bail of Ksh 5 million.
