A newly constructed storey tuition block at Emwiru Mixed Day Secondary School in Kisa North Ward has officially been handed over under the Khwisero NG-CDF programme. The handover ceremony, held on Friday, was presided over by Khwisero Constituency Member of Parliament, Christopher Aseka.
The new facility, comprising six classrooms, a library, and an ICT laboratory, is set to provide a conducive learning environment for both students and teachers. “With this latest milestone, we have now completed and handed over 17 storey tuition blocks across the constituency, reaffirming our commitment to education,” said the MP. “Education remains our top priority, and to further support our students, we have introduced a subsidised lunch programme in all day secondary schools, where learners now pay only Ksh. 1,000 per term.”

School Principal Charles Shikuku expressed his gratitude, highlighting a significant academic improvement in 2024. The school’s mean score rose from 2.8 in 2023 to 4.7 in 2024, moving its ranking from position 21 to 9 within the Sub-County.
“This progress has given us confidence that we shall surpass our target mean score of 5.3 this year. We are working diligently to secure a top-five position within the Sub-County,” he stated. He commended all stakeholders, including the Board of Management (BOM), school sponsors, local politicians, parents, and teachers, for their collective efforts in driving this improvement.
The principal further pledged to work tirelessly to eliminate E grades entirely this year, stressing that the culture of low academic performance at the school must come to an end.
