Mediheal Denies Involvement in Alleged International Kidney Trafficking Ring

Mediheal Group of Hospitals’ kidney specialist, Dr Srinivas Murthy, has firmly denied media reports linking the facility to an alleged international organ trafficking network.

Speaking in a media interview, Dr Murthy clarified that patients seeking kidney transplants arrive at the hospital with their own donors—contrary to reports suggesting that the hospital is involved in sourcing or selecting donors.

“The clients come to the hospital independently, accompanied by their donors, and all procedures are followed in accordance with the law,” Dr Murthy stated.

Mediheal’s Vice President, Maryline Limo, also refuted claims that the hospital receives payments from donors. A recent media report had named Mediheal as a key transplant site, alleging that recipients paid up to $200,000 (KSh25.9 million) for a single kidney transplant.

Limo dismissed these allegations, emphasising that the hospital strictly follows legal procedures and that all donors provide formal affidavits without any financial incentive.

“I wish to make it clear that Mediheal Hospital is not involved in any form of financial exchange with donors,” she said. “The only money received by the facility is for the medical services provided to the client. The hospital is not, in any way, a party to any monetary arrangements beyond that.”
