What’s the Real Story Behind the Dispute Between Two Chinese Firms Over Prime Nairobi Land?

Investigative Report by The Weekly Vision Team

The High Court in Nairobi has declared a Chinese company to be the legal owner of a prime property, having satisfied the legal threshold for ownership through the principle of adverse possession. Significantly, another Chinese firm with an almost identical name has lost its claim to the same property through operation of the law and the same court ruling. According to court documents and the judgment delivered on 3rd July 2025, the losing firm did not oppose the application, meaning the suit proceeded and was determined undefended.

The two firms, both originating from Jiangsu Province in China, are embroiled in a property dispute in the Kenyan capital. The dispute involves China Jiangsu International Economic-Technical Cooperation East Africa Company, which filed the suit seeking ownership rights, and China Jiangsu International Economic Technical Cooperation Corporation Limited, the original registered owner, whose directors could not be traced.
