Kakamega Governor Blasts Natembeya for Tribal Politics

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has slammed Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, accusing him of propagating divisive politics in the Western region.

The Governor was speaking during a rural electrification event held in Butali area, Malava Sub-county, presided over by the CS for Energy and Petroleum, Opiyo Wandayi.

Governor Barasa urged residents of Kakamega and the entire Western region to disregard Natembeya’s political ‘Tawe’ movement and instead rally behind President William Ruto.

The governor emphasised the need for political transformation and unity to unlock the region’s economic potential, stating that divisive politics and hatred will delay economic development.

CS Opiyo Wandayi echoed the sentiments and criticised Natembeya and the opposition, claiming they were in government in the Ministry of Interior and Provincial Administration, during their regime, there is they implemented nothing but only to undermine the public.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the opposition led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. During their tenure, the public faced threats and killings, calling upon them to stop hate speech in rallies.
