Bungoma Children’s Hospital Administrator Urges Staff to Uphold Professionalism

As part of this year’s Customer Service Week celebrations, Bungoma Children’s Hospital held a staff meeting on Wednesday to recognise the tireless efforts of its healthcare providers and reinforce the institution’s commitment to excellence in service delivery. The event was graced by Hospital Administrator Herbert Kipyego, who delivered an inspiring address to the staff.

In his speech, Kipyego called on all employees, both medical and non-medical, to recommit themselves to providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients. “This is a special week not just to celebrate our clients, but to remind ourselves why we do what we do,” said Kipyego.

He added, “We are in the business of healing, and with that comes great responsibility. I urge each one of you to work diligently and maintain the highest levels of professionalism at all times.”

He singled out Monica Jepchirchir, a clinical officer at the hospital, for her exemplary service and commitment to patient care. “Monica’s dedication is a model of what we want to see across all departments,” he said. He added, “Her work ethic, compassion, and consistency have not gone unnoticed. We celebrate you.”

The administrator’s remarks were echoed by Hospital Director Dr Dickens Lubanga, who stressed the need for unity, teamwork, and dedication among staff members.

Dr Lubanga further reminded employees that customer service in healthcare goes beyond being polite; it involves saving lives, offering reassurance, and making patients feel safe. “Our clients come to us during their most vulnerable moments, when they need our help,” said Dr Lubanga.

He added, “We must be the comfort they need, the expertise they seek, and the assurance they hope for. It is not just about clinical competence, but about how we treat every individual who walks through our doors.”

Dr Lubanga also highlighted the importance of building trust with the community. “As a hospital, our reputation is built one patient at a time. Let us serve our clients with integrity, respect, and diligence. That is how we grow,” he said.

The staff were reminded that excellent customer service is not just a one-week agenda but a daily commitment. Hospital employees were encouraged to treat both patients and colleagues with kindness and professionalism.
