Leaders drawn from various parts of the Western region have come together to declare their political support for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, praising his steadfast and composed leadership.
Led by former Environment Minister Dr Noah Wekesa, the Mulembe leaders affirmed their unwavering backing of Mudavadi, whom they described as a stabilising figure in the broad-based government led by President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga, particularly during the current turbulent political climate.
Speaking at the burial of Mama Judith Mwaitsi Maloba, a former top aide to the late President Daniel arap Moi, in Sitatunga, Cherangani, Trans Nzoia County, Dr Wekesa described Mudavadi as a calm, sober, and principled leader deserving of national support.
“The Mulembe nation stands firmly behind you,” Dr Wekesa assured the mourners. “We recognise your professionalism and track record in service delivery. You have brought tangible benefits to our community, and we believe there is more to come. As our son at the top levels of government, you are best placed to articulate our values and aspirations with dignity.”
He dismissed critics who have questioned Mudavadi’s role in government, terming them opportunists seeking political mileage through underhanded means. “Let us learn to respect our leaders, especially our fellow Luhyas. This habit of name-calling, body-shaming, and baseless criticism reflects poorly on the new crop of politicians who seem to believe they are superior to everyone else,” he warned.
Dr Wekesa further emphasised the need to safeguard Mulembe leadership from destructive political forces aiming to undermine unity and sow discord among the Luhya people.
In his remarks, Prime Cabinet Secretary Mudavadi urged Kenyans to uphold and protect national institutions, implicitly criticising sections of the political class for persistently attacking the presidency with falsehoods meant to incite disorder.
“A country thrives when its institutions are respected, nurtured, and protected. The presidency, in particular, plays a central role in national cohesion and development,” he stated. “We must conduct ourselves with dignity and decorum as citizens and refrain from spreading propaganda that tarnishes our country’s image globally.”
Mudavadi emphasised the need for truthfulness in public discourse, warning that efforts by disgruntled politicians to destabilise the government through lies would ultimately fail.
“Let us reject a culture built on lies. Truth liberates us all. To those senior political figures intent on using falsehoods to bring down the government, we say this: it will not work. God is in control, and Kenya remains in His care.”
