Turkana County Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai Faces Imminent Arrest Over Forged Academic Papers

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is going after Turkana County Governor Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai, he is facing imminent arrest over alleged submission of forged academic papers to the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for his clearance to contest in the just concluded election.

“EACC will arrest the governor and present him before Court to face charges as it continues with investigations of similar matters relating to forgery of academic certificates,” the Commission said. According to investigations carried out by the EACC, it was established that the Turkana governor who was elected on an ODM party ticket fraudulently submitted fake degree and diploma certificates which is a breach of the Electoral Code of Conduct.

The anti-graft agency now claims that the said documents are purported to have been issued by the Kenya Methodist University.

The IEBC has however come under fire once again from the EACC for ignoring their insights on the matter before clearing the Turkana Governor to contest for the gubernatorial seat. The governor is said to be among the 241 candidates that were flagged by the EACC for having integrity issues before the August 9th polls. If the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji authorizes his arrest the governor will be arraigned on forgery charges which are contrary to Section 353 of the penal code.
