It is on record that some of President William Ruto’s closest allies had vowed to revoke all the appointments made by former president Uhuru Uhuru Kenyatta one year before the last elections. It is against such fears that captain Kibe pulled a fast one on President Ruto and resigned.
In his resignation letter to the president, Kibe wrote “Due to personal interests that I wish to pursue, I hereby tender my resignation as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Communications Authority of Kenya with effect from 01 December 2022.”
Information and Communication Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo is said to have acknowledged receipt of the resignation letter and it is only a matter of days before the president appoints his replacement.
Before joining CA, Kibe worked as the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority Director-General.
Following Kibe’s resignation, all eyes are now set on Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba whose appointment was also controversial. He took over from Francis Wangusi whose term ended in August 2019.
