Governor Natembeya Mourns The Late Joseph Kubende Who Played A Huge Role In His Election Campaigns

Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya on Thursday evening celebrated actor, musician, businessman and MC Joseph Kubende Wa Wekhomba who passed away on Thursday evening in unclear circumstances. In his message of condolence, the Governor remembered the late Mr Kubende as a brilliant orator who exited the stage far too soon. “I mourn with the family, friends and colleagues. We have lost a genuine talent, a dedicated creative and a good man. Like all great talents, Kubende will live on through his work. Safiri Salama,” Natembeya said.

Kubende who sang several songs that left his fans in both spiritual and political fields played a critical and most fundamental role in the gubernatorial role and the Azimio One Kenya Alliance that saw the current Trans Nzoia County Governor take over the reign from the first Governor Patrick Khaemba.

The cause of his death remains unknown but the family through his elder Sister, Consolata Wekhomba has called for calm and privacy at this time, the family will relay more information when ready. The demise of the late Kubende, according to Trans Nzoia County Assembly Minority leader Eric Wekhomba Wafula, has left a vacuum that will be too hard to fill. Kubende also worked as a voice-over artist in various social, economic and political setups. He also contemplated vying for the Bungoma County Senatorial race and though he didn’t make it, he stands to be counted as an Icon for change.

Mr Kubende was a man who had been bequeathed with no mean talent but also with an unrivalled public speech that those who could give him an ear simply became his disciples. Residents of Western Kenya and the entire Nation who knew him took to social media platforms to mourn the renowned actor.

“Kubende has passed on! Damn! He was super talented. His role in our campaigns electrified the masses and swayed them into giving us an overwhelming victory in the 9th August general elections not only in the Gubernatorial but other electoral seats in this county. It is unfortunate that we have lost him, may his soul rest in peace “, Trans Nzoia County Chief of staff Dickson Wamocho eulogized.

I loved all the roles he played. It’s just heartbreaking, may his soul rest in eternal peace. We have lost real talent,” Lucy Nyambura, the Director of Special programmes added to the many messages of condolence sent to the family of the departed actor-turned-politician.

Mama Justina Sitti in her message said the news of the passing of the late Kubende was shocking and described him as a very energetic and inspiring young man who could have reached far, but God’s plans are not ours. Big loss to his family and society, Rip Kubende’s closest friend Godwin Masibo said he had lost a warrior and patriot, pole sana to the entire Basombi family”, he said.

Kubende had so many friends from across the political divide among them Cpt. retired Chekai Musa. “Go well my friend and Cousin brother”,  said Kisaka Mufutu. Kubende’s elder cousin brother David Mwangale said “You have left us in deep shock, this world is wicked! Dirty! Disastrous! Rest in peace.
