Former Attorney General Amos Wako has been tasked with heading a three-member team representing the Azimio la Umoja coalition in the audit of the 2022 presidential election. This appointment comes just days after the submission of the NADCO report to President William Ruto and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga.
Wako’s team includes former nominated Senator Judith Pareno and forensic investigator Julius Girani, selected by the opposition to ensure a thorough examination of the election results.
The decision to appoint Wako and his team follows the recommendation in the NADCO report for both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio to nominate three members each to the committee responsible for scrutinizing the election outcomes. Among its responsibilities, the committee will choose a reputable firm or consortium to conduct the evaluation. With President William Ruto yet to disclose his nominees for the panel, the clock is ticking as the deadline for finalizing the team approaches, set at 21 days from the adoption of the NADCO report.
