Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Embarks On Fitness Journey To Reduce His Tummy

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has decided to hit the gym to reduce his tummy. Mr Sonko said that he has embarked on doing vigorous exercise, including walking and getting extra instructors to help him with the exercise. He disclosed this on his Facebook page, where he wrote, “Juzi nilitembea 3 laps za 3.7 km nikahema kama donkey. Sasa kuna some friends wananiambia ati niende nikafanyiwe gastric bypass kama Big Ted ama nifanyiwe surgery or nimeze balloon kama Gavanaree, Raburu, Jamal na Adil”. He also wrote, “The reason why I’m looking for a female gym trainer is that my kitambi sasa imekua too much.”.

The former Nairobi Governor, Senator, and Makadara MP added that “you cannot know how to ride a bicycle by just reading a manual. You have to jump on the bicycle and fall down many times until you learn how to balance yourself and ride the bicycle properly.” Mr Sonko enjoys a large following in the city and other parts of the country, especially the coastal regions of Kwale, Mombasa, and Kilifi. He said that his inspiration to become physically fit is drawn from his belief that every single person who rides a bicycle today has fallen down numerous times, and despite the pain and injuries, they never gave up.

“They kept trying until they got it right. Similarly, in life, there is nothing that you will ever achieve by just wishing and praying for it. You have to get out and indulge yourself in the actual action. You have to do something. You have to try,” added Sonko. He at the same time encouraged other people who are trying to achieve anything in life to borrow a leaf from his philosophy that “you will fail, but you are not supposed to give up. Success is not for any chosen few; I keep saying, success is for everyone who understands that failure is just one of the processes of getting there.”.

At the same time, the former governor asked people not to block blessings from God by seeking revenge on people who may have wronged them. He urged them to let it go and trust God to fight all their battles. “It is also written in the book of Leviticus 19:18: You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbour as yourself: I am the LORD,” added Sonko.

Some Kenyans responded to him by writing, “No need of all those; just cut down on your carbs, mzinga, and sugar intake. Then reduce the number of meals per day to 2. Start hitting the treadmill or the road like me every day uone kama hio kitambi haitaenda Kathonzweni. If you need help, reach out to me,”  one of them wrote.
