Approximately 460 employees of the Nandi County Government, whose appointment letters were revoked, have secured a reprieve after obtaining a conservatory order from the High Court.
Lady Justice Maureen Onyango of the Employment and Labour Relations Court issued a temporary order preventing the Nandi County Government from replacing the affected employees until a case they filed is resolved.
The 460 staff, part of a group of 1,884 whose contracts and appointment letters were revoked by the Nandi County Public Service Board (CPSB), turned to the High Court, claiming they were denied natural justice.
The employees are being represented by advocate Eliud Muten. Justice Onyango directed that a full hearing of the case will begin on October 16, 2024.
The employees have requested the court to reinstate their pay and revalidate the contracts issued by the CPSB. Additionally, the court has suspended the advertisement of their positions until the case is concluded.
