Deep State Moves to Install Kimeli as Next KeNHA DG

In Kenyan politics, appointments to high office often depend on the backing of —and loyalty to—powerful political figures or groups. Influential individuals within government, or key actors in the so-called “deep state”, are known to exert considerable influence over appointments to state corporations and enterprises, particularly where political or commercial interests are involved. This quiet contest for control appears to be unfolding at the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), where the recruitment of a new Director-General is currently underway. Eng. Luka Kipchumba Kimeli is presently serving as the Acting Director-General, pending the appointment of a substantive officeholder.
