Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka has called on President William Ruto to ensure his government implements the economic resolutions passed by the Lake Basin Region Economic Block Governors. Speaking during interfaith prayers held in Busia on Sunday, Governor Lusaka said implementing the resolutions was one way of fixing the region’s economy. He further called on the President to ensure that he fixed the ailing economy of the country.
“You have the capacity to fix the economy of this country, we will give you the necessary support to ensure this is achieved,” Lusaka said. The governor at the same time rebuked leaders who were calling for the secession of the country saying they should instead call for the unity of the state. “Let leaders be careful with the words they utter in public because one word thrown carelessly might throw this country into turmoil,” he said.
The governor revealed that the Webuye Municipality is set to receive Ksh. 324 million from the World Bank under a new gazettement towards infrastructural development. “After the long push, I am glad to report that Webuye town has been approved and upgraded to Municipality status. This will go a long way in fostering development and creation of job opportunities for residents,” he noted. Lusaka announced that in the new gazette notice, Webuye town will get an infrastructural development fund from the World Bank that will factor in Sitikho, Maraka, Matulo, Mihuu, Misikhu, Bokoli and Ndivisi Wards.
“Our efforts towards making Bungoma great are transformational. We are on course to better the livelihoods of our people,” Lusaka added. Lusaka further stated that the legacy regime is on course and projects have been initiated in every department. “We have rolled out projects in every department. All major markets will be lit, we shall equip our health facilities, we are working on our road network to improve our economy,” he affirmed. Lusaka assured parents that the County Government will continue executing its constitutional mandate of Vocational training centres and ECD while noting that the scholarship will empower the poor and vulnerable students.
“As a County Government, we are bound to execute solemn functions in VTC and ECD. We are also streamlining the scholarship program to ensure that our poor and vulnerable children realize their academic dreams,” he said.
