Azimio la Umoja coalition party leader Raila Odinga has called a parliamentary group meeting next week over house leadership ahead of the official commencement of parliamentary sittings. This comes days after disquiet was witnessed in the party following Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s announcement on Saturday over the House leadership.

According to sources the meeting was scheduled for today, Friday the 23rd but was later postponed due to the ongoing induction of members of the National Assembly and Senate which is set to officially come to an end tomorrow, Saturday.

ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen noted that the meeting had been postponed to next week by the party leadership but the exact date that the meeting is to be held was yet to be confirmed. “I’m an implementer. When the leadership says it has to be pushed back, mine is to implement,” Mr Ong’wen said.

Wrangles have also been witnessed in the party over Suna East MP Junet Mohammed being handed the Chief Whip position. A large majority of the MPs in the Orange Democratic Party have accused Junet of not only undermining them but also playing a huge role in the party leader’s loss during the August 9th Presidential election.

According to sources, former minority leader John Mbadi had shown his discontentment with the party lineup on grounds that he had been dropped unfairly even after successfully discharging his mandate in the 12th parliament.

“He had a candid talk with the party leader, It’s now upon the party leader to make a decision that will restore order to our house,” a third-term MP, who is aware of what transpired, said. The parliamentary meeting scheduled for next week is anticipated to seal the cracks in the party.
