The Interior Cabinet Secretary nominee Kithure Kindiki experienced a rather unfortunate incident on Tuesday morning after he referred to his current boss President William Ruto as President Uhuru Kenyatta during the current vetting process underway at the county hall in Nairobi. Prof. Kindiki stated that he had no issue working under President Uhuru Kenyatta rather than President William Ruto.
“I have no problem working under Vice President Rigathi Gachagua and President Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said. In an attempt to atone for his sentiments, Prof. Kindiki claimed that he had also worked for the former president “until he kicked me out for no reason” Professor Kindiki served as the Tharaka-Nithi senator during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
He won the position In his first foray into electoral politics, he was then appointed as the Senate’s first Leader of the Majority, a post he held up until the 2017 general elections when he was elected Deputy Speaker. However, he was removed from office in 2020 as a result of the then-brewing dispute between former President Kenyatta and President William Ruto, who was at the time Kenya’s deputy president.
