Karua Rebrands Narc-Kenya Party With Eyes Fixed On The Next Elections

Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua is working on a political scheme which will see many politicians from the Mount Kenya region use the party as a vehicle of choice for the 2027 elections, according to sources.

Mrs Karua has found herself between a rock and a hard place in matters of succession within Azimio. She is reported to have strong feelings that Raila Odinga will not run for the presidency in 2027 but will instead play the role of a kingmaker. She however believes that Mr Odinga is plotting how to pass the leadership mantle to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and not her. According to sources Kalonzo Musyoka, through a deal brokered by former President Uhuru Kenyatta before last year’s elections was promised that he would be the automatic presidential flag bearer in 2027.

Martha Karua on the other hand was brought on board to lure the Mount Kenyan votes. According to sources, there was no agreement or any mention of a deal where she was to become the automatic heir apparent once Raila Odinga retired from active politics.

Based on that, Martha Karua is said to be busy working on plan B for the 2027 elections; she has embarked on rebranding her party well aware that both Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta will push for a Kalonzo Presidency in 2027. According to sources, Karua wants Narc-Kenya to be the dominant party in the Mount Kenya region and believes that the power struggle in the Jubilee Party is to her advantage.

There are reports to the effect that during last week’s secret meeting she held with Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria, former Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi, and former CS Peter Munya, one of the main agenda on the table was to merge their parties under Narc-Kenya ahead of the 2027 elections. Her wish and prayer is that the current leadership wrangles Jubilee Party should remain. Sabina Chege should continue leading the party to give Narc-Kenya a chance to be dominant in the region since Jubilee Party will be considered a UDA affiliate.

Again, Martha Karua is aware that the majority of Mount Kenya voters will not have time for President Ruto and DP Gachagua come the next electionsand that there will be a need for the mountain region to have a party run and led by one of their own, hence Narc-Kenya.

She has been on the receiving end from close Raila Odinga allies who claim she has no chance of succeeding Raila Odinga as the Azimio flag bearer following her disappointing performance in the last elections. They claim Karua did not bring any meaningful votes, not even a single MCA from her backyard of Kirinyaga County or Gichugu constituency.
