Why The Planned Elections Could Make Or Break The Ruling UDA Party

In the Mount Kenya region, there are three men whose main mission is to work against the DP’s political interests; the three are Ndindi Nyoro, Moses Kuria, and Kimani Ichungwa. Outside of the Mount Kenya region, the president has strategically placed ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi to checkmate him. Musalia has since become even more powerful in the Kenya Kwanza government than the DP where he is assigned duties to represent the president at high-level international meetings and conferences while the DP’s assignment is to take care of local duties touching on coffee, tea, and milk sectors and the fight against Changaa and Illicit brews in central Kenya

With the clock ticking quickly towards the eagerly awaited United Democratic Party (UDA) party elections in December, political players are already laying out strategies on how to take control of the party; sources have told The Weekly Vision. The polls could make or break the party depending on which side carries the day between those allied to President Ruto and the ones loyal to his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

It is now an open secret that the DP has been pushed into a tight corner by his boss’s allies judging by the current developments within the party. The DP has been reduced to a mere spectator in a government he helped put into power. Analysts say that Mr Gachagua has several serious matters he needs to address if he is to remain politically relevant within the Kenya Kwanza administration and by extension, the UDA Party.

The DP’s open opposition to some of President Ruto’s policies may cost him the running mate slot in 2027, Mr Gachagua has been telling those who care to listen that he is opposed to a handshake between his boss and ODM leader Raila Odinga, but as far as the state of affairs in this country is concerned, it is on everyone’s mind that a handshake is inevitable. Sources well versed in the ongoing bipartisan talks through the National Dialogue Committee revealed to us that President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga will soon do a handshake which will result in the creation of the office of Official Opposition, something DP Gachagua is totally against.

The DP must find ways of containing politicians President Ruto has placed in strategic places to checkmate him. In the mountain region, there are three men whose main mission is to work against the DP interests; the three are Ndindi Nyoro, Moses Kuria, and Kimani Ichungwa. This team of three always skips any political event organized by the DP in the Mount Kenya region. There are speculations that if the president must retain a running mate from Mount Kenya in 2027, then it must be either Ndindi Nyoro or Kimani Ichungwa no Rigathi Gachagua.

Outside of the Mount Kenya region, the president has strategically placed ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi to checkmate his DP. Musalia has since become even more powerful in the Kenya Kwanza government than the DP where he is assigned duties to represent the president at high-level international meetings and conferences while the DP’s assignment is to take care of local duties touching on coffee, tea, and milk sectors and the fight against Changaa and Illicit brews in central Kenya.

Analysts say that the DP’s main undoing is that he has failed to create a national image and has confined himself to local politics in the Mount Kenya region with others saying it could be by design from the president’s handlers to keep the DP grounded. The truth of the matter is that Gachagua does not command any serious national image; he is only seen as representing the interests of Mount Kenya, unlike William Ruto when he was the DP, he was seen by many as a national leader. The DP has an uphill task of calming down a growing rebellion against him from the mountain.
