Reports have emerged indicating how administrators of the Nakuru County Persons With Disabilities Fund looted the kitty through fictitious sitting allowances.
Between June 2020 and 30th June 2021, the Fund Administration Committee members were paid Ksh. 2,581,200 in allowances in respect of twenty-five (25) committee meetings. It has however been discovered that the holding of the twenty-five (25) meetings was contrary to Section 9(1) of the Public Finance Management (Nakuru County Persons with Disabilities Fund) Regulations, 2016 which recommended a maximum of only six (6) meetings in a financial year.
Attempts by The Weekly Vision to get documents showing names of Committee members, appointment letters, approved rates of allowances and meeting minutes from the offices proved futile. The management under the board’s chair William Migwi was in breach of the law. The entire board should be surcharged to recover the money.
