Bandari DT Sacco has once again stamped its authority as one of the top Savings and Credit Co-operatives in the country at the recently held Mombasa International Show 2023 where it scooped the Best Financial Institutions stand.
The Society’s exemplary performance was earlier noted in July this year during the International Cooperatives Day commonly referred to as ‘’Ushirika Day’’ when Bandari scooped the following 4 awards.

Organizational Background
Bandari DT Sacco Society Limited was registered in 1975, under the Co-operative Societies Act of the Laws of Kenya, by employees of the then East African Harbors and Railways Corporation, as Harbors Workers Savings and Credit Co-operative Society Limited. It was later changed to Bandari SACCO when the parent organization changed to Kenya Ports Authority.
In 2004, the SACCO put up its own building and established Front Office Savings Activity (FOSA). To achieve solid growth, Bandari DT SACCO opened its common bond to the public in 2005 and now boasts a diverse membership ranging from salaried and non-salaried individuals, Investment groups, Chamas, Welfare groups, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, large corporates, sole businesses, among many others from within the Country and in the diaspora.
The Sacco introduced various products that suit members in both the FOSA & BOSA segments. Bandari DT SACCO has remained faithful to her established purpose of promoting the welfare and economic interests of her members in accordance with cooperative principles and values.
Over the years the SACCO has witnessed growth in its assets, resources and membership. The SACCO’s asset base stood at Ksh. 11.7 billion by the end of 2022 while membership was at 21,000 during the same period. The SACCO has branches, namely, Mombasa (where it hosts its Headquarters & Mombasa Fosa), Nairobi and Kisumu.
