Matungu Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Nabulindo has unveiled 200 computers for distribution to more than 20 schools across the constituency in a move aimed at boosting learning. Unveiling the initiative at the Matungu NG-CDF offices, Nabulindo reaffirmed his commitment to donating more computers to students, in partnership with donors from Taiwan and in coordination with the Kenyan government.
The legislator announced that the first phase of the donation had begun, adding that as the programme progresses, a further 200 to 300 computers will be delivered to schools that have not yet benefited. “If you look at the Constitution of 2010, there is a section that emphasises the education sector, and looking at the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), it states that all students are required to learn digital technology,” said Nabulindo.
He urged students to take the opportunity seriously, adding that they were privileged to learn computer studies in compliance with the requirements of the CBC. Nabulindo expressed gratitude to the donors of the digital equipment, including other directors from Taiwan, for their unwavering support towards the initiative.
The MP pledged that many more computers would be delivered to Matungu within the next three months. He called for the proper utilisation of the computers, saying this would encourage further donations to more schools and help provide a conducive learning environment. “Every school will receive ten computers for a start, and only those with functional computer laboratories will qualify,” Nabulindo emphasised.
